Homemade Apple Mincemeat

Homemade Apple Mincemeat

A fall favorite! Full of spice flavors with apples and a brandy kick!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup apple cider 
  • 1 1/4 cup dark brown sugar 
  • 4 cups cooking apples, peeled and cored 
  • 1 1/4 cup golden raisins 
  • 1 1/4 cup North Bay Produce Dried Cherries 
  • 3/4 cup North Bay Produce Dried Cranberries 
  • 1 tsp allspice 
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon 
  • 1/4 tsp clove 
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg 
  • Zest and juice of one lemon 
  • 1/4 cup brandy 

Directions

Step 1. 

Dissolve sugar in cider over low heat.  Add apples, spices, dried fruits, and zest and juice of lemon.


Step 2. 

Cook 30 minutes until soft and juices have reduced to a jam consistency.  Add brandy and spoon into prepared jars. Store in fridge for up to two months.

use apple mincemeat in cookies, pies and pinwheels. This vegetarian version is full of flavor!
