Beef and Snow Pea Stir Fry

A healthier version of your favorite take out.


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce 
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 TBLS mirin or white wine
  • 2 TBLS dark brown sugar 
  • 2 TBLS corn starch 
  • 1 TBLS vegetable oil 
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz. snow peas 
  • 3/4 lb. flank steak (thinly sliced against the grain)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

Step 1. 

In a small bowl, add soy sauce, water, wine, brown sugar, and corn starch whisking to combine. Set aside.


Step 2. 

In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil on medium high heat until shimmering. Add garlic and cook for a minute or until fragrant. Add snow peas and cook until bright green and crisp tender about 3-4 minutes. Remove from pan and place on plate, set aside.


Step 3. 

Add flank steak to skillet and cook until almost cooked through, about 6 minutes. Remove from pan and place on plate with snow peas.


Step 4. 

Add sauce to hot pan and stir, bringing to a boil.  Once thickened, add snow peas and beef stirring to combine and heated through. Garnish with sesame seeds. Serve over rice.

If you do not have wine, add a little chicken stock.
